Hi there,

I'm a PR here in Canada. I'm a freelance writer and 99% of my income comes from writing for US businesses. I have a business number here in Canada, a sole proprietorship. I supply my clients with a W-8 Ben, but I was just wondering, do I need to pay tax to the US government as well? I have been in business for a year and just paid my first round of taxes to the Canadian government.

not unless you are a us citizen or have registered the business in the us. it doesn't matter where your clients are, you are only obligated to pay taxes on your income in canada to canada, unless your home country has rules suggesting you must pay taxes there too.
