Lots of questions .....please help!!!!!

Hi,

I am an international graduate student in Canada. I am married and my wife is on an open work permit. My Study permit(SP) and her open work permit (OWP) expires on 30-Mar-17. I applied for renewal of my spouses OPW along with my SP extension on 13-Feb-17. So far heard nothing from CIC. Online, it shows that they are currently working on applications received on 31- Jan-17. Here are my questions.

(1) If I didn't heard any news before 30-Mar-17. Should we leave Canada?
(2) What if we got a rejection after 30-Mar-17. Can we reapply? and remain in Canada until further decision is made or we should leave Canada and apply for new SP and OWP from our own country.

I am so confused and stressed. Please help.

I'm not expert here but to what I read people replying in similar case is
You should leave Canada as soon as your permit expires as if you stay after its expired it surely gonna have bad impact on your Immigration process in future. And the time period of your stay after your permits expires will be considered as "illegal".

if you're applied before your expiry. you can stay in Canada as long you hear from them since you're in status right now. if you got rejected then they will give you some time to leave.

Thanks for your answers. The only problem is my wife is pregnant and she is due on JUNE. How long do they give time if my SP extension expires? Meanwhile can I reapply for extension?

I'm not sure they will consider that your wife is pregnant, even if they ask you leave before june you have to but again if you got rejected you can reapply again but you can't study or work unless you get a response from them.

once your study permit expires. you have 30 days to get into status.

Thanks. One more question. Even our extensions were rejected after 30-Mar-17 we can reapply and remain in Canada but I should not study and my wife shouldn't work. Am I right?

exactly. once you're out of status you can reapply they will mention in your rejection that you will have x amount of time to reapply but I hardly see any rejections on study permit extensions, only if you're providing wrong information.

Thanks for your answers I really appreciate it. I too agree rejections for study permit extensions are rare. I am positive about my application. My supervisor is funding me and he gave me a letter stating funding is secure for me till 2019. I submitted my enrollment letter from university etc..etc.. all good.

But here is the problem I applied online on 13-Feb but from the following day my submitted application mysteriously disappeared from "My submitted applications" section, I dont know why. I contacted CIC, raised numerous complains nothing so far. This is the main reason why I am worried. I have my application number though.

I would suggest to wait until you see they pass the processing time of your application and see if you get any response if not you have to reapply. In the meantime, you can try sending them an email and figure out why your application got disappeared.

Make sure you put "URGENT URGENT" as your subject on your email, they will definitely follow up with you.

Hey Ankurkool17,

Our requests for extensions were approved. I got an email today that I had a message in my account, as usual I couldn't read the message as my submitted application disappeared from my profile. So I called CIC (IVR) for the out come. It said both the applications were successful.
