Hello everyone,

My wife recieved an email form CPP-Ottawa saying that our file was transferred to LA and is in the queue for review. What does this mean? Stage one was approved in early feb and we've bin waiting ever since. Apparently the LA spreadsheet is down does anyone know how long it takes to hear from LA after a file transfer from Ottawa?

I wish I could help you with this, but I am new to the LA spreadsheet. Our application was sent immediately after my sponsorship approval so it wasn't at Ottawa first. I think you should wait a bit longer, since it's been only 6 months since her approval. Try to e-mail or call them and see what they say - so you can at least have peace of mind. I wish you best of luck!

I mailed my husband's Passport to the consulate and it will be delivered on Monday.... I found out today by someone that Monday they are going on strike. Did anyone hear about that? That would be my luck...if so, i am wondering how long it will take to get the Passport back. ???

Yeeessss...today i received a letter requesting my husband's Passport. I was wondering if I need to send the original or can i send copies? My husband is from the USA...He's currently here with me in Canada and I heard that it could take a long time to return his Passport to Ottawa. Can I request to have his Passport delivered at a family member in the USA to have it sooner?

We applied back in September 2011, this was a long journey and I been waiting for this day to come ;D

When they asked for my passport (they wanted the actual passport, not a copy) I sent it to LA with a return overnight envelope c/o my company's US office (plus evidence of upcoming travel that couldn't be moved - trying to convince a US Federal Court to move a trial date that's been set for two years isn't going to happen for the convenience of CIC, that's for sure...)

They used the prepaid USPS express mail envelope and returned it to the US, and they then put it in a trusty FedEx Envelope and sent it to me in Canada. So yes, that does work. The annoying part was getting the USPS express mail pre-paid envelopes (I had someone else run down to the border to get the pre-paid envelope too, because I couldn't actually leave as my work permit had expired and the renewal had not yet been processed, so if I left I'd lose implied status... Ugh.)

Our interview was cancelled last june by buffalo office and now we have interview on August 14

yes, i was talking to a family friend about our situation and he told me that today LA was going on strike and he works for cbsa....they are supposed to deliver the passport today at the consulate so will see ???

The immigration officers will not be going on strike. It is another division.

My husband's passport finally got delivered yesterday and someone signed for it......I had sent an email to the consulate and they responded today..

My questions was: 1. since my husband have a USA Passport do i need to send the original or can I send copies?
2. How long will it take to have my passport returned?
3. Can I have my passport mailed back to a family member in the USA

THis is what they replied:

1.Persons with U.S. passports may send in clear copies of each page of their passports
2.Current processing times are 4 to 6 weeks
3.Yes. You should provide a stamped, self-address mailer.

Just thought I would post this for future references...

7/17/13 Received an email from CPP-O requesting Documents and Passport Copy. Plus: "We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview".......

7/29/13 Online status now reads:
1. We received your application for permanent residence on January 22, 2013
2. We started processing your application on July 18, 2013
3. Medical results have been received.
4. A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

Yikes! I hope that decision is good news.

I am located in Los Angeles, CA. Hubby awaiting my arrival in Victoria. I got a Nexus card early on and thus was able to spend half my time in Victoria with hubby and the other half in LA, getting ready!
