Hi everyone (again),
I'm sponsoring my wife to come to Quebec and want to write a letter outlining our plans to support ourselves. The plan is student loans (I'll be going back to school) and work, but I also want to get a letter from some family stating they will help out financially if need be. Would this letter need to be notarized or anything? Would it be acceptable having my parents (who live in Eastern Europe) to write and sing the letter, then have it scanned and sent to us in South America (to avoid shipping costs and time)? If anyone has done this before and can let us know what they did, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Tyler

I applied common-law and was quite confused as whether or not two letters had to be notarized. A lot of people said notarized letters are stronger support, so we had letters notarized, including the one that my parents will offer us a place to live and financial support. So it is up to you, to get it notarized or not, but I would want the best support possible.

I think the same goes for a scanned and printed letter vs. an original letter that is signed. It is best to send originals but I have read about people sending printed emails as letters of support.
