SO MY FILE IS NO LONGER MIA.... FINALLY AFTER 6 MONTHS OF DOING THE BACKSTROKE, MY FILE HAS MADE ITS WAY PAST CUBA AND LANDED IN KINGSTON. THEY UPDATED HUBBY'S ADDRESS TODAY SO I KNOW THEY MUST HAVE IT AND SOMEBODY IS WORKING ON IT. THIS ISN'T AN APPROVAL BY ANY MEANS, BUT IT IS THE FIRST REAL UPDATE I HAVE GOTTEN SINCE SPONSOR APPROVAL. FUNNY HOW SOMETHING HAPPENED AFTER MY MP MADE THE INQUIRY THE SECOND TIME??!!

Can everyone share with me how long it took to see action on their file, after this happened to them?

wow, ok so.... I just received an e-mail from MP's office... Please help me decipher this....

"I just talked to CIC. Everything is within normal processing times. The file had a pre-review in April and is still in the queue for a review."

pre-review?

They didn't even look at my file til April?

panic is taking away my good mood....

Breathe A pre-review or initial assessment (IA) is the first stage review which every application goes through after being first received. An officer is assigned to do an overview of the relationship and whatever documents have been presented to support the relationship, then decide whether it should proceed to background and other checks, or whether an interview may be needed.

When we received our GCMS notes, the initial assessment was very bland and mentioned no "red flags" and I was reassured by someone knowledgeable that this is actually a good thing. In other words, no news can be very good news, it means that the IA has not caused anything to "jump out" at the IO reviewing your file, and things can proceed normally to background checks etc. Those checks are what will take up the majority of the time spent waiting out processing.

Our file was received in KG in May 2011, and the initial assessment was done in August. After that, silence reigned until the sent me the med re-do request in Feb, or 6 months later!

Now I checked ecas today and my canadian address which was under both me and my husband has now changed. His address has now updated back to his Jamaican address. What could this mean. Remember we are currently in the process of the RCMP check so is there anything else who should be looking out for? RCMP was done Apr 25.

have 2 questions:

1.when approved, do i get something in the mail saying approved as sponsor, or will i get something in the mail even prior to that saying we have your application, and here's ur client id#?

2.considering going back to live with him until he gets approved, just considering....so how would that work, could i just fax in someting stating one approved, we will move back and stay with my mother till we get settled again? (which given my employment history, and credential really wont take too long)?
