Per my understanding:

Only forms of money acceptable by CHC Local office:
1) In the name of Applicant/self.
2) In the joint form with primary applicant & spouse.

However, I am NOT sure if it would be accepted, if it is ONLY in the name of SPOUSE!
Probably seniors can advise on this better.

Hence, to answer your question, joint account with BROTHER would NOT be accepted by IO.
