I would like to request everyone in this forum to put in some information regarding the job scenario for Civil Planning Engineers in BC, particularly Vancouver. Is it better than Toronto or is it the same?
Peace

I am a Civil Engineer working in House Development, I am going to Vancouver next november. I hope there are good opportunities, I am sure better than in Mexico.
AlberMex...I have heard that Alberta has more scope for civil engineers. I dont know much about BC. I request all the visitors to put in their views specially those who are already residing in canada.
Peace

But I dont like Alberta...it is too dry, I like the rain and green fields.
You are right AlberMex, Rain and green fields are really a nice sight...but at the same time...u need to consider the job scenario as well...you cannot afford to be jobless even if the surrounding looks nice and calm....peace

The jobs should be good, Vancouver is a big city, it has had a big development in the last 10 years, many many apartment buildings. Calgary and Edmonton are small cities (1´000,000 people), so I think as bigger the city better the opportunities.

AlberMex,
Your notion may be correct. But we need to check up before taking final decision. Construction, particularly infrastructure projects need not be more in thickly populated areas...It all depends on how much the government plans to spend ( percentage of GDP). Also, the job posting can give a clear idea, I guess....peace.

Hello friends,

I'm an engineer too but in the Electrical Field. My immigration application is on its way too. But as of this moment what concerns me most is not really on the job opportunitites once I land in Canada. My worries in the first place is how to even practice my profession in Canada as we all know, engineering professions are regulated in Canada. I dont even know if my education and professional license from my home country will be credited once I will be there.
My wife is the principal applicant as her profession belongs to the 38. We applied under the new rules.
I just wonder why I cant find any thread in many discussion forums that will discuss and help each member to be guided on how professions can be accredited in Canada.
Shall we start one?

Aspire, I agree with you...there should be a seperate forum to discuss these things...It will be a great help to all technical guys.

Aanbaan, the forum you have mentioned does not say anything abt accreditation specifically and how to go about it.
