Hi guys,

I got a PNP nomination last year and submitted my paper-based PR application in December.

Today, I made the express entry cut off mark and expecting ITA soon.

Can I still withdraw the PNP PR application, get a refund and reapply using the Express entry route?

I have linked my PNP PR application online but I haven't gotten AOR yet

I'm surprised they still accept paper based applications!

The fact that PNP has reached a decision - a favorable one if I may add, means you can't do a refund anymore

You still get to apply for visa anyway so that should not be a biggie :D

I mean I've submitted my application to CIC so the refund I'm referring to is the application fee itself.

And yes, they still accept paper -based applications lol. It's still a last resort for a lot of people :p

For PR, You aren't charged until you get an AOR, so you can withdraw it if you wish.

How can they refund you if you aren't charged? ;)
Ok fair point. Just to be really really sure ;D pardon me for this.

I paid using their online facility and got a receipt for it.

Not sure how the process works for ee but can I simply use the same receipt?

Oh gotcha, my bad, I was used to the previous paper process where a credit card authorization form or bank draft was included, and it was charged when the AOR was issued

I don't think you can use the same payment for EE. In this case you'd have to request to refund/withdraw although I've read mixed results on it.

Are you CEC? Do you have a WP that is expiring? If no and you can afford to wait 6 more months why not just follow through with you paper based PNP application?

I think PNP application is probably safer than a direct EE application, but it will take 6-12 months longer.

I'm not CEC. I guess it's because PNP is obviously tied to a province (not Ontario) and would really love the freedom to move about. You do have a point about the safety bit though. It's almost like going back one step

Yes it is and i think it's only worth considering this if you're having second thoughts about the province that nominated you.

You might get away with doing both in parallel, if your EE works out and you get a PPR first then cancel you PNP based app... but this is the most expensive path as you wont get a refund and you'll need to pay two admin fees.

To be honest, i don't mind staying in the province but I've been looking for job opportunities online and so far, none. I don't want to be in a position where I would need to move out of the province because I couldn't get a reasonable job.

If this is the case then it's a perfectly reasonable reason to move out and settle elsewhere.

Did you know that with a nomination and a job offer you can get a WP? Since you already have a nomination for that province all you need to do is find a job now.. you don't even need to wait for you PR to start working. This may give you an incentive to search more thoroughly for a decent job in that province... ;D
