Is surname required??

Hi,
I have surname on my passport..while my educational doc. Do not have my surname.
Is it required to hormonize passport name with educational docs or is there any problem of keeping surname on passport as it is.

Doesn't it appear at all??
I've heard cases where just the first letter of surname is written. But first time I hear surname missing on education documents (degrees, transcripts...).

My name as on passport adhar card and driving license, IELTS score card is Amit Marwaha..while on all educational certificates it's Amit Kumar...I have my passport renewal in jan2019. Should I have to change my password name according to educational certificates...or let it be..

I would explain such thing in LOE, and provide one-and-same person affidavit.
