is it ok to take different course or degree?

hello, newbie here. im planning to take further study in Canada but in different field. is it just ok to take a different course like from engineering to BS nursing? will that be accepted, can I still have a student visa in this case?

transfer institutions (both public and private) and change their course/program of study without
applying for a change to the condition of their study permit.

From my understanding there are waiting lists to get into nursing degree programmes so I don't know if you would be able to make a course change into that faculty on short notice. Just something else to consider.

thank you guys. in that manual p.36. it says student can change school and change course or program as well. so in general I can take any course/program I like regardless of my previous degree. thanks.
