Hi,

Usually 1st Sem fees are to be paid in advance, by international students to book their seat in these colleges. Some may even ask for full 1 year fees. The procedure is..you pay application fees... fill application form and send all documents. If you are given admission, they give you a offer letter. Then you need to pay the 1st sem fees/1st year fees(depending upon the college) to get final "Letter of Acceptance". This Letter of Acceptance is an important document..which shows you have been granted a final admission to the college..and you need to attach that LOA with the visa application documents. So..Yes..as far as colleges are concerned... most require you to pay 1st sem/1st year fees in advance.

Hi,

Read carefully. I said.. usually, most colleges (NOT ALL) ask for 1st sem/1st year fees before giving Letter of Acceptance. These colleges are mainly the Ontario based colleges..where most of the applicants to their PG cert courses are international students. Since..most students flock to Ontario... they take advantage of this.

If you see outside Ontario..there are some very good 1 year PG courses such as the PG DIPLOMA in IB @ RED RIVER COLLEGE, Manitoba province...which offers an ACTUAL PG - DIPLOMA(of higher credit hours and not Graduate certificate like the Ontario colleges) and requires only 400-500C$ for seat confirmation. SO..it really depends on the college.
