Hi guys,

can you someone share their opinion on what's next for me:

CIC received my application on July 11, 2014
I got an AOR on August 9, 2014
My sponsor got his AOR on March 21, 2015
And then I received medical request on January 11, 2015 and completed on January 15.

Any idea what and when is the next step?
I'm just TOO anxious! ???

I almost have your timeline, applied in July 2 and received medical request on Dec 24. Unfortunately, nothing can be done yet! They are working on applications received on June 30 2014.

SA AND AIP should come very soon.

Hello everyone. I hope one of you can help me.

I just got an email for a medical request, as well as SA and AIP. Can I now apply for OHIP?
I haven't applied for one yet when I got my Open Work Permit since I've read here in the forum that the Ontario government does not issue OHIP for Open Work Permit holders while the Sponsorship papers are still being processed.

Thank you :)

This is not completely true. With open work permit you can be covered by OHIP, but only with a full time job if you will work there for at least 6 months. But anyways, with AIP you can get ohip anyways. Good luck!

Actually, there have been reports that Ontario Service no longer accepts OWP case 27 (pilot OWP) regardless if you have been working or not for OHIP qualification. At first when pilot OWP started, applicants were able to get OHIP until ontario services realizes pilot OWP does not mean the applicant qualifies for PR like AIP does. So they refuses to accept pilot OWP. Only AIP, regular OWP or DM stage.

Thanks screech339! I only work part time and started only a few months ago so I didn't bother trying to get an OHIP. I wanted to wait for at least an AIP if it's true I can finally apply for OHIP with it, and ask you guys for confirmation if I can indeed get one.

Maybe starting this week, but I managed to get OHIP with work permit and without AIP a week ago...

As we say it here, it's "travel at your own risk", but with post-grad work permit and multiple entry visa, you should be fine.

I've done three weeks vacation to my home country (didn't fly with my spouse, we were saving costs), did Mexico without my spouse, and drove to the states few times, ion multiple entry visa alone before getting my OWP, and I was fine.

Don't always take whatever the agents tell you over the phone, its better you use the link below to make the request. You don't have anything to loose:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=619&t=4
So I guess for once, they were true to their words, and they processed it in a timely manner. Got my OWP in the mail yesterday.

Me few years ago would have (almost) killed for that!

Was that a mistake? Anyone who recently landed had the same experience? She just gave me back the other photo.

Hi ,
So we landed recently, and checked that the PR card processing time ( without the mailing time) was 87 Days. In a couple days it has jumped to 100 days. How hard is it to Print a PR card that has already been approved after months of processing.

HOW IN COMPETENT ARE THEY !!!!

Hi, I was told that you can request for a rush on the PR card, it will cost $50 but they can't guarantee anything. I'm at work don't have the number with me but the number is listed in the paper they gave us at landing with bunch of info re: sponsoring other people, citizenship requirement, etc etc, under the PR card section. I can check for you when I get home if you can't find it.

The lady at landing told me that if you want to be absolutely sure, just apply for one time entry visa once you're outside of the country. Or fly out of the state, and drive back to canada. She did say that either way it's a hassle so she would really recommend waiting for the card, which I intend to do.

Hi,
Thank you for the information.
I also tried to call the CIC Call Center, and as usual they gave me contradicting information.
They mentioned that for New Permanent Landed immigrants , there is no expedited process.
U can either apply for a PRTD from outside Canada , OR you can wait.

If you find some more info on the Urgent PR card process, please do share.

Expedited option for PR card application is not available for first issued PR cards. Only available for renewals only.

Oh I was told by the lady at my landing interview though...

Guess there is never one answer to all of our questions ???
