Usually, the letter of landing interview is a regular mail. sounion landed at Winnipeg. I think he said that his e-cas showed the date of the interview and he didn't receive the letter, if my memory is right.

Don't worry. Updating the info of e-cas depends on officers. ;)

This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.

We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Canada Immigration Centre in Winnipeg will contact you concerning your permanent resident status.

The Right of Permanent Residence Fee of $490.00 is required before you can become a permanent resident in Canada. To date this fee has not been paid and the confirmation of permanent residence document will not be issued until payment is made. Please be prepared to submit the total fee of $490.00. Fees can be paid online at www.cic.gc.ca. You must print a receipt of payment. Fees must be provided to the Immigration Centre in Winnipeg when you are scheduled to obtain your confirmation of permanent residence document.

Please note: At the time of your appointment, you and your family members, if any, will be required to present the original identification document(s) to the Canada Immigration Centre. A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be made at that time. If permanent residence is granted, the name that will appear on the confirmation of permanent resident document is your name as it appears on your passport or identity documents.
Congratulations when do you send your application?

CONGRATS mikekmk!!!!

I got my landing letter in the mail after already seeing the landing interview set on ECAS. The Winnipeg office is oddly placed at the Forks of all places. BUT there was no one there and I was in an out in probably 20 minutes. PM me if you have any questions. SUPER CONGRATS!

Hi Guys!

Happy to see things flying along for everyone :)

We are planing to go to New York on Dec 20th but we haven't received the Permant Residence card. We call in and the guy told us it takes 2 months and not 4 to 6 weeks.

I became a permanent resident on Oct 18 so its cutting it close.

I know we can't fly ... but can we take the bus / grey hound?
And what happens when we cross the boarder.

Also driving is another option ... are we allowed to do that with out the PR Card?

The person who we spoke to at the immgration office when we landed said we should travel at all.

Anyone here travelled across the boarder withour receiving their PR Card?

Thank You & God Bless!

Crossing by car is absolutely fine with your COPR and passport.

Traveling by commercial carrier (bus or airplane), you're supposed to have your PR card. From what I read, it's not a big deal for those from visa-exempt countries (especially the US), many travel without a card without difficulty. I'm in close to the same boat. I landed Oct 10, no card yet, flying Dec 22. I'm going with or without the card. If they deny me boarding when I try to come back (which I'm told is unlikely, but possible), then I'll just have to road trip with my sister to the nearest Canadian consulate 3 hours away for a travel document.
