It was a great meeting with John McCallum. Meeting held on 09 November 2016 at Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali, Chandigarh, India. Attended by John McCallum (Immigration minister, Canada), Laura Albanese (Immigration minister, Ontario), Lena Metlege Diab (Immigration minister, Nova Scotia).
Highlights of the meeting :
1. Canada wants more immigrants in coming months to grow their economy. And there will be rise in immigrants in future as well.
2. Canada will make it easier for International students (foreigners who study in Canada) to get PR by giving them extra points in Express entry, and reducing points from LMIA and PNP. This change coming very soon, in the matter of week(s).
3. Global talent strategy - faster processing times for High skilled immigrants in IT sector.
4. Reduction the processing time for family reunification (currently 2yrs). Change coming in few weeks.
5. Ontario PNP Entrepreneur and French speaking stream to open soon. OINP Express Entry stream to open in coming days. Working on reducing processing time.
6. Next draws will see more ITAs. 4-5 more draws till 2016 end. CIC intentionally doesn't disclose the date of draws in advance and it will remain like this.
7. Since there are information that we know are not correct (French stream was never closed in Ontario so far we know, neither was Corporate stream), and others are given as if certain, also no politician before has stated those changes as "will happen" (when, then statements were like we would like to, we think, we plan to do changes.....), I take this whole speach as nothing more than just nice political speach, telling people over there what they wanted to hear, without actually doing all those described steps.

More like, what people wanted to hear there.
For example the only way I could understand Ontario statement is that they will restart assessment of application that they are collecting from those stream. But so far we know, those stream did not cease to sending out PT notification.

Now let me see how I understand things:

1. Canada wants more immigrants in coming months to grow their economy. And there will be rise in immigrants in future as well.
This is already concluded, as they increased total amount of economic immigrants (FSW, CEC, PNP, Quebec together). At the same time they did adjustions in other group which were decreased. However since changes were more technical, so this will not have any big impact to us
2. Canada will make it easier for International students (foreigners who study in Canada) to get PR by giving them extra points in Express entry, and reducing points from LMIA and PNP. This change coming very soon, in the matter of week(s).
Here is something completely new. There was some debate before regarding certain LMIA (for non qualified positions) and not to demand LMIA in some high skilled position, but PNP was not touched so far. Since provinces do have their own stream (separate column), I would see this as a bit strange move. Would they slash down points from provinces, then nobody would bother to go through their main streams. On the top it is not mentioned here anything more in details. Anyway, additional points here will lead into increasing the CRS cut off levels and it may practicaly lead to the inadmisibility without additional support (LMIA or PNP).

Canada is rather overflooded with IT specialist (IT NOC are on the top 10 specialisation list).
Catch is that many end in areas of Vancouver or Toronto with a fierce competition, while in some other provinces they are missing. Here I think, this might be more like a hit for their new East Coast area programm support

As they are doing all those check ups and clearances both on PR or Citizen and also on the other family member, this will be only possible if they will have enough people to do that or they will cun on resources somewhere else (shorter time for one can be longer time for others).

Never really closed anyway. What they might mean is that they will assess files and give out PNP for those.
6. Next draws will see more ITAs. 4-5 more draws till 2016 end. CIC intentionally doesn't disclose the date of draws in advance and it will remain like this.
Well checking the most common bi week draws, we can easily calculate minimum of 3 draws (1 in November and 2 in December). Weather they will do additional draw by the end of December is up to them. Why not to disclose it - simple calculation, they check their current quotas and updated statistics of applicants that accepted previous ITAs, from that on they set the cut off and try to have it spreaded eavenly.
7. Nova Scotia coming with program which will allow international students to take admissions in high schools (11th,12th standard) directly after 10th standard before taking admissions in colleges/ universities.
This is again something new and it will need to be better explained. What is screaming to me at the moment is the fact, that 10th standards might be even minors.

correct, the french stream never closed. It is still open

French stream is still open; I never heard him on youtube mentioning about other things, except students, global talent, family...
