Hi,

Does anyone knows what are the prospects of becoming an immigration consultant in Canada? Does it require any licensing or education or you can start your practice based on experience in India?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Anyone wishing to legally act as an immigration consultant in Canada must become a licensed member of ICCRC.

You must become a member of the ICCRC in order to give authorized representation to your clients. Immigration consulting is quite an underrated and lucrative career if you do it right.

Education - you have to take up an accredited immigration practitioners program (http://iccrc-crcic.info/become-a-immigration-professional/http://iccrc-crcic.info/become-a-immigration-professional/). A couple examples are Ashton College (Vancouver) and Humber College (Toronto). They seem to be the most popular institutions for this kind of program. Best of luck!

Hi Sidalee,

I went through the link you had sent and these programs seem to be good:

http://www.ashtoncollege.ca/programs/immigration-consultant-diploma-imcd/

And

UBC's Immigration laws and policies and procedures.

And

Humber college's immigration consultant program.

Out of these Ashton provides online program as well. My question is if the online has same value (if not better) than in class ones.

Please let me know

Thanks

Sounds like Ashton College is reiterating on their website that the online immigration program is done through live webinars so if you ask me it seems as good as traditional classroom. I've used Adobe Connect before and it allows you to interact with other participants (or classmates in this sense) so it's especially ideal to take if you're not in Vancouver or Canada at all. Hope this helps!
