Immigration Application and Visit Visa

Hi

My parents have applied for immigration to Canada (I am the sponsor) with my brother as a dependant. Their application was recently transferred to the Abu Dhabi office where we expect there to be a 3-4 yr wait before they hear back again. My brother would like to visit me in Canada in the interim and he currently lives in the United States on an H1. On his visit visa application, they ask whether he has an immigration application in progress. What are his chances of obtaining a visit visa if he says yes? Technically, he will not be eligible to immigrate for another few years due to the backlog in Abu Dhbai, but I am not sure if it will come up as a dual intent case to the immigration officer.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated?

2 different apps, he can try as anyone else would for visit visa

But how is your brother a dependant any more? while working on H-1

If he applies, its an out and out revelation that he is not - unless he was under 22 at the time of application but still has to live with parents to fulfil that requirement

Thanks for the response. I figured that the 'dependancy' issue would be a problem. If I need to withdraw my brother from the application, can I do that at my end in Mississauga or would my parents need to do that in Abu Dhabi?

Tough call, if he is not interested then wrote to Abu Dhabi - and it will make it easier, else it will be delayed due to the dependant factor - as its pretty evident that he isn't one any more and besides he would need to furnish FBI clearance so that raises doubts as to his stay in US

So, IMO - I think you should cancel it and the visit visa aspect has got no relevance to sponsorship app, its 2 different things
