Hi all

Me and my wife are planning to immigrate to Canada. Is it prudent to involve the services of an Attorney (Lawyer/ consultant) or we can just do it by ourselves. If we are to do it ourselves, whats involved. We live in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Thanks

I strongly recommend using an attorney if you are serious about the process. Do it yourself sometimes can drag the process.

I would strongly recommend Campbell Cohen. I am working with these folks for mine.

Thanks,

You don't need to use a lawyer to apply. Using a lawyer does not speed up the process. Some people like using immigration specialist to assist with the process. Be prepared to pay and it's worth shopping around. Visit the Canadian Govt website and have a look at the forms. You might find that you can complete the paperwork without having to use a specialist in the area assist.

Best of luck.

Hi. This is very prudent to apply to immigration company. It'll make process faster. And you will avoid some problems.
I don't know how this happens in U.S.A. But in Russia the skilled help is simply necessary.

Hi Jamatoma

First of all you must know that CIC does not care about whether you apply through a lawyer of by yourself; there is not a speed up on it, the immigration process takes the same time in both cases.

Now on the other hand, using an expert could help you on preventing that your documents being sent back to you due to some failures in writing and/or filling up… and of course, it will take much more for you to keep the process running. Since you have to amend the error(s) and send them to CIC once again (it could be a huge back and forward thing) actually it takes time that has to be added to the regular immigration process

So the expert(s) know perfectly how to fill the documents and they could advise you on the process so you can have more chances to perform better and at the end of the day the process may take less than applying by yourself ( of course if you apply by yourself and if you do all the fillings right at the first; it will be great so you can save the attorney’s fees… but if you feel that the processing is not your strength, I recommend you to hire the experts)

Bottom Line: the experts do not speed up CIC process but they could help doing the thinks at the first time and saving the delays due to documents rejections.

Good luck
Eduardo
