illegal and work sponsorship...

I have a friend who is illegal, he has been illegal in canada for 4.5 years now.
Is it possible for him to get sponsored by his work...

If yes,
Does he have to leave canada to do the sponsorship, or can he remain in canada while it is processed.

since he's illegal, i guess they should ask him to leave

Because I know with spousal sponsorships.

if you are illegal and file inland, if you get approved for stage 1 and havent been caught, so to speak, you are allowed to stay in the country untill the application in processed.

Im just not sure if its the same with CEC sponsorships or not. :-X

Not for CEC, the work has to be with a valid work permit.

i don't think there is such thing as "CEC Sponsorship", there is CEC and there is Family Sponsorship

Our friend was a refugee and he worked at a restaraunt for 2 years on a work permit, than his boss said he was going to sponsor him. So he cancelled his refugee and had to go back to mexico while he waited. 15 months later he got his work permit, now hes back in canada with a contract to work for this employer for 2 years. and waiting for his PR card.

Please tell me if this is CEC. or something else

It is hard to tell from the limited details but this is not CEC. This is probably the "arranged employment" option under the Federal Skilled Workers program. Although the program does require some assistance from an employer, it is not "sponsorship."
