IEC and restoration

So, my WP application was refused in May. I have 90 days to apply for restoration. 20 days left.

I was accepted for IEC Youg Professional WP and have letter of introduction ready.

My lawyer suggests to go to USA and apply for WP on my way back to Canada.

Was somebody through this before? Is it ok wit the law that I was here without status for 70 days?

Update.

WP refused on May 10th. 90 days to apply for restoration left.

Applied for IEC Young Professional category with offer of employment (skill 0),

Approved after 2 days.

Left to the USA after 78 days since refusal and came back to Canada 2 days after. Got my WP.

I turn 36 in three weeks. I was lucky.
