Hi there,

my PR application is currently in Warsaw, we submitted in October.

I don't know yet for sure, but we are trying for a baby and it's not impossible that we will succeed soonish ;) We both live in Canada (I am here on a WP valid until Sept. 2017), and I am covered by the provincial health insurance (and my common-law husband is Canadian).

If I do get pregnant, how do we inform IRCC about that? Is the form they have on their website enough? Or do I need to enclose a note by my doctor? Does it have to be a family doctor or OB/GYN? Or can I just use the form to tell them?

Thanks!

I would suggest trying to wait until after your medical is accepted as passed. Before that point, they can request an x-ray still. If you've become pregnant before that time, they will not allow the x-ray until after the child's birth.

That said, you don't have to notify CIC until after the child is born. Once born, just send them a CSE to advise them you've had a baby.

Hi, my medicals are already passed, but thanks!

So you think I shouldn't notify them? I think I would prefer to, just so that they won't think I was hiding anything (although the baby, hopefully, would be born after COPR and landing, knock on wood!) It's possible, however, that they will request another medical if they don't finish processing by June which is when my medical expires :/ So I think I'd rather let them know, it's just that I'm wondering if a CSE with me just letting them know is enough, or if they need to see a doctor's note.

You are not required to notify them of a pregnancy. They won't care, as it has zero effect on the app.

Ok, that's actually good, thanks! :) So I guess it would only become relevant if I was to take another medical but couldn't do the xray, right?

If the child is born during processing of an application?

a person is required to notify immigration of a birth of a child during the process or before landing. Canuck is suggesting an applicant is not required to notify immigration of a pregnancy. While it may seem insensitive, there's no guarantee all pregnancies result in a viable birth.

Sure. I mis-read here. He is correct. CIC does not need to be notified until birth.

Ok thank you all guys! It's actually better this way since getting in touch with immigration is always a stressful ithing! And even though I am hoping I will land before the baby's born, am i right to assume that since the father is a Canadian citizen an extra application for the baby will not be needed?

Thanks all!

The baby will have Canadian citizenship by birth. You just have to notify CIC if their still processing your application. It won't affect it.
