Hi all,

My wife came to Canada on a visitor visa, I have a question on her visitor visa's legal status.

She first entered Canada from an airport on Dec 6, 2014, which she got the first stamp. Then we went to a US road trip by crossing US-Canada border, we came back on March 9, 2015. She got the second stamp on her passport. Now we want to know how to count her 6 month legal stay in Canada. Use the first stamp or the second stamp. What's her last day, June 6 or September 9?

Thanks if you can help.

your wife first trip to canada: she entered into canada on Dec 6, 2014 and she got the first stamp on her passport so she was authorize to stay in canada for upto 6 months. she left canada so her first trip was over.
your wife second trip to canada: on march 9, 2015 she entered into canada again and got a second stamp on her passport so she is again authorize to stay in canada for upto 6 months i.e till September 9, 2015.

conclusion : every entry/trip made to canada can be upto 6 months.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THIS ROUTE TO EXTEND HER STAY IN CANADA. if she wants to extend her stay in canada after September 9, 2015 she must apply for extension to stay in canada (for spouse it is rarely refused) and you can make the application online atleast 30 days before sep 9, 2015 ( i.e anytime between oct 9 to sep 9)
if cbsa gets an impression that your wife is flag poling (exiting and coming back continously) just to extend her stay in canada they may refuse her entry.

hope it helps
