It's good as long as you took it less than a year before your application.

Is that true Leon?
I thought you have to take it less than one year from the date of “evaluation” by CIC (as in 3 years from now)?
Plz let me know.

Leon is right,

It is good fro one year for Canada Immigration. So lets say you will take the test on Dec 13th 2008, it will be good to apply for Canadian Immigration Until Dec 13th of 2009 and use the same test. So that means when you apply for immigration your IELTS must not be more than one year old. IF it get old more than a year during the process of your application, then it is OK, they will not ask you another one.

You can also take it later when they ask for it. They can not complain about it being too recent, only if it's too old.

Why does CIC only accept 1 year validity ? IELTS result itself is valid for 2 years from the date you sit the exam.

If it's already 1 year old when you apply, it probably will be 2 years old or more by the time you get processed.

Hi MarceloS, just would like to ask what kind of review materials are you using in your review for IELTS?
I am planning to take my IELTS in January 09 so I am gathering review materials to help me ace my exam.
Thank you in advance.

reydon123,

I actually bought a book from Barons. You can get it easily on amazon.com. I also printed out some sample on line. I am reading a lot newspapers, magazines, etc., for te reading assignment. For the writing assignment, I was able to get some sample on line. For the speaking part, I do not think there is much I can do since I already speak English all day long at work. For the listening part, I am using the Baron's book listening part. What about you?

How does the IELT works, to get 16 points from the english Language, do I need to score 7 in each catergory i.e reading.7.wrting 7..Listening 7..speaking 7. or do I need to get an average 7 wich means I can score 6.5, 7.5, 6 8 = 28/4=7.

Please help.

You need to get 7 or more for each category. If you score 6.5, 6, 7.5 and 8, they will calculate for 6.5 and 6 categories, you get 2 points each, for 7.5 and 8 categories, you get 4 points each, total 2+2+4+4=12 points
