Hello all,

We're wondering how long it takes after "Decision Made" to get your CoPR in the mail. Our visa office is Paris and our mailing address is in Canada.

Since there aren't many people on the forum who are going through Paris, we'd like to hear from people who have dealt with other offices too.

My CoPR was mailed to me the same day I showed decision made on e-cas... how long it takes to get to you depends on how long it takes the mail I mailed my passport to LA it took 7 days to get there... they returned my passport, CoPR and evidence I sent with my application and it took 14 days to get back to me.

I'm very curious about this one also. We expect DM any day now, but don't know if there's any chance that she and my stepson can have their passports and visas in hand in time to be with us for Christmas even if the DM happened by Monday.

Based on your signature, you got "Decision Made" on November 6. Does that mean you received the CoPR around November 20? In Canada?

Is it by regular mail, or are they more careful than that? I suppose they'd be careful mailing a passport. We didn't need to send a passport.

I had DM on the 8th of November, and my COPR showed up on the 19th of November. From London VO to Canada.
For London VO it's normal post, just a signature is required, but anybody living at that address can sign I believe. So nothing too special.
It also depends on where you live in Canada. From London VO the COPR have been taking anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks to be sent to Canada, I live on the West Coast, and the COPR came to a remote place (2 ferries, etc!) so it took a little longer.. I would say 10 days from Paris would be a reasonable time.

For VO that have to send back the passport itself, it depends. Some VO ask for a pre-paid envelop, others don't. If the VO is sending the passport to the same country (for most applicants that require to submit their passport, they are not in Canada because not visa-exempt), it can take a week, or a few days, depending on the post system, and how far you live from the embassy!

Good luck,
Sweden

For international shipping you should allow 10 days. If like Sweden the mail has to use 2 ferries then obviously a little bit longer.

If your COPR is being sent out from a VO in which country you live, country depending 1-3 days. Obviously some countries don't have next day delivery.

Most countries use just a signed for service I believe, nothing fancy like courier or special recorded delivery.

Also after this week has passed consider big delays in regards to postal staff on holiday, Xmas cards and presents, packages and parcels specific to Xmas. Once the 17th December arrives most postal services are heavily disrupted.

Is the copr mailed to the mailing address or home address listed on ecas?
My ecas changed to decision made last week, and just yesterday a home address was suddenly listed (last week it was only my mailing address that was listed). The home address is my husbands old address from last year when we first applied.

Thanks Creampop, Sweden and Risingsun for the replies. That gives us a good idea. I doubt Paris will be too different from London.

Yeah, I don't really understand what the home address is there for. But I think it would be surprising - even for CIC, from whom we've come to expect the unexpected - if they didn't send it to the mailing address.

It should go to the mailing address... I had a "home address" appeared once I had decision made on ecas ( well actually 8h before decision made) and it only listed "Vancouver, BC, Canada" which is what we had indicated in our application... so most likely, they are confirming that you are now supposed to live in Canada - by adding a new address ( it's usually a canadian one) to your application - Canada is where home is, once the PR is approved! :)
The only thing that changes is when you go through immigration and do the landing, you will be asked for the new address - the border officer will check with you that the address is correct - or not - because that's where the PR card will be sent. So just make sure that you have the new address with you ( or wherever you want the card to be sent to) ready with you when you land.
Congrats on the PR!
