How does getting OHIP Work for a PR?

Still in the process of my application, but I had a question regarding how the PA goes about getting OHIP coverage once they land? Is there a fee? Is it complicated? Is there a time-frame?

We applied Family Class.

All explained on the service Ontario website. Once you are relocating to Ontario permanently you go and register and you will receive a card in the mail plus an initial temporary coverage paper. Your coverage starts after 3 months. It is best that you wait until you have a permanent address worked out. Doesn't matter when you sign up during the first 3 months your landing date will determine when your 3 month wait period begins. There are residency requirements to receive healthcare even with a valid card. I'd encourage you to read through them. If you don't meet the residency requirements you can be asked to repay any costs.
