How do you say "present" when you are only allowed a numeric input?

There are a lot of places on the application where dates are only allowed in numeric format.

How do you say "present" on such forms?

How do you say "from May 5 2010 to present - I lived at this address"

How do you specify present" in numeric terms? Is it the date you sign the application? Is it the date the sponsored person signs the application? Is it a date you pick in the future, just to be safe? Is it a date you pick in the past, just to be safe?

Thanks a bunch!

I entered the date I filled the form and then attached a separate sheet that said I currently live at this address.

As long as the date is the same date as date signed application, it is technically present.

That is what we did in our application. Spouse landed without any issues.

Yeah, but you forget that I need to send the application overseas, and then the sponsored person needs to sign and date, and then he needs to ship it to me, and then I need to sign and date.

This is a complex process that can take a varied amount of time. I cannot just guess when I am gonna sign the application, hence my question: what date represents "present" :)

The only form that requires signature of sponsor and PA both is IMM1344. That form does not have a 'To' date to be filled. So you don't have to worry about when you are going to sign it. Moreover, you don't have to send this form to PA. The PA can print the filled form, sign and send to you and then you can sign when you receive it.

You can keep the other sponsor's form ready and fill the 'To' date closer to the day when you are going to sign them, so that you can fill the actual signing date.

We left that space blank when printed, and then hand-wrote in the word 'Present'.

Can the application be validated with the date blank? I don't think the application would be able to be validated with empty dates.

Is there a place on the forms that need to be validated, where there is a need to say "present"? Where is that spot?

I don't believe any of the forms that require validation have a question that 'Present' would be necessary. At least, we encountered no issues with validation.
