Dear xxxxxxxxxxx,

In order to complete the assessment of your application, a visa officer requires that you attend an interview at the following address:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The interview date and time is: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Children and/or Spouses are not to attend the interview unless specifically requested. Please confirm your attendance by return email.

Persons unable to be interviewed in English or French should bring a professional interpreter to their interview (friends or family who are not certified are not acceptable). The interview may be postponed at the visa officers’ discretion if there are difficulties in communication. Your sponsor, if accompanying, cannot be your interpreter.

Please bring with you: Passports of all persons included on the sponsorship and any additional information you wish to show the Visa Officer. If this is your second interview request, failure to attend this second interview date will likely result in the refusal of your application.

You should not regard this letter as assurance that your admission to Canada will be authorized. You should not dispose of your property, relinquish your employment or commit yourself in any way until you are actually in possession of your visa or receive written advice that your application has been given final approval.

Is there anyway of knowing if my visa is approved prior to interview?
What kind of questions are they gona ask me?
I am really nervous about this................. :-\

An interview is requested when there are red flags in a case that CIC want to clear up. Red flags could be any number of things including but not limited to:

* Large age difference between the couple, usually 7+ years difference, this is especially the case if the woman is the older of the couple.
* Different religious/cultural backgrounds.
* Different levels of education
* Family being unaware of the relationship
* Never meeting in person
* No/few trips together or to meet each other.
* No formal wedding with no family attending.

They will ask quite a few relationship questions, I found a link here with some of the questions you may be asked. It is always a good idea to study them with your partner and make sure that you are both comfortable going through them and know the answers:

http://immigrationguides.com/content/view/70/110/

You will not know if your visa is accepted before the interview. Depending on how the interview goes you may get your full approval right then and there. But no, there is no way to know before the interview.

Don't be nervous. If you are confident in your relationship there is no reason to be nervous. Have faith and go through this with your partner. If you have nothing to hide, there is nothing to worry about.

This is your chance to answer questions and prove yourselves. Try getting your case notes if you can, before the interview. This way you will have an idea if what exactly they are thinking.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes

Ø Please provide explanation of your time in the USA 2004 - August 2008. Provide evidence of student or work permit of US PR. If you had no status, please explain. On what grounds did you depart USA - provide documents to support your explanation

Ø You have not seen your sponsor or child in the past 18 months. Please provide an explanation of why no further visits have been made.

Ø Please confirm you have no siblings.

These are the main sticking points you need to address, especially the 18 months thing, you really need a good explanation to the VO

They're Canadian, but they're supposed to be trained and have learned a lot about their visa office's countries being serviced, and they're supposed to know in each country, if an age difference is a big deal, if it's customary to have a wedding celebration, etc.

In Vietnam, I've read many cases where the VO asks, "You had a traditional wedding, but why didn't you pray at the altar of your grandparents?" "Why didn't you have a street procession?" "In Vietnam, it is unusual for a divorced woman to marry a single man", etc. If you dont' have a street procession, they will think it's because you do not want your neighbors to know you are married. They're supposed to study these things carefully and want to see if you follow these things or not.
