Help - IRCC asking for a Biometric for WP extension

I applied for my work permit extension under a protected person. & I submitted my PR application too in May 2023.

I received the latter for biometrics under my WP extension. Is this normal? Because I haven't seen anybody here talking about this.

Also, another problem is during the WP extension process. I submitted my passport scan copy, and in biometrics, they are asking to bring a passport or refugee travel document. So is it ok to bring my refugee claimant ID with passport copies for biometric?

Yes, it is normal... there is a biometric for temporary permits ( study permit, work permit .. etc) and one for Permanent permits ( refugee, PR, citizenship ). How long did take for them to request the biometric after you applied for Extension ?
