On the document checklist # 7 - Identity and civil status documents

They asked for Photocopy of Citizenship certificate or immigrant or permanent resident visa for any family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

I have 2 step kids and brother in law that are Canadian citizens but we do not have their citizenship certificate. Do we need to get it or it is not needed?

Re: Help- Identity and civil status documents

I am not sure of answer.

I am the Canadian my spouse is British. He has one second cousin that lives in Canada that we never talk to or have seen. We added their info on the form that asked
But did not provide a copy of their PR card

We may have made a mistake....

You don't need to worry about the brother in law, I believe they are referring to immediate family. Are your step kids Canadian born? If so, a copy of their birth certificates will be what you need.
