Need help guys !!
I have been issued a PR visa and it is valid till mid nov 2015 and same is my due date. I am planning to land in BC, Canada in August,2015.(I cant land in Alberta or anywhere where there is first day coverage, considering my health and complications , and I have relatives in BC to look after me)Although I tried requesting embassy to extend or reissue the visa but they have refused to do so saying that my file is closed now. Now I am taking a risk of landing at this stage. Doctors have said there are chances of premature birth .
1.Considering an unfortunate situation if the child is born before his arrival time, the baby will be covered as soon he /she is born? or the baby's health card will be valid only when i will get a MSP card, (as I am thinking that i will be getting it around 1 nov, considering balance of aug+sep+oct).
In case of premature delivery if we have to keep the baby for few days in hospital, all the expenses would be beared by me? and any idea how much would it be? or there are any health card exceptions for new born.
2. After delivery so as to fulfill their condition of 6 months of stay, i have to stay till feb,2016 only or have to fulfill their condition of 6 months of stay in a calendar year by staying till june 2016?(As I am landing in August 2015, so would not be able to fulfill 6 months condition in a calendar year in 2015)
3. Baby is also liable to fulfil his/her 6 months of stay condition.

Are there any options I can opt for. I read about Community Health Centres, what about them. Any other options?
also please confirm that their delivery of health cards are on time? Like i will be eligible from nov1, no matter if the card has arrived late or early. In case of early , I will be eligible to use only after nov 1, and in case of late arrival , they will reimburse me?

You need to ask your questions by MSP, see http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/health/health-drug-coverage/msp/bc-residents/contact-us because they are the only people who can answer them. The rest of us here can guess but the only authority on MSP in MSP themselves. I would suggest that you email so you will have a reply in writing.

Formulate your questions clearly such as:

1. If a person lands in August, when are they eligible for coverage?

2. If you are eligible for coverage on a certain date but you have not received your health card yet, are you still covered and will you be reimbursed for medical expenses after that date?

3. How does the 6 months rule work for those who landed in August? Do they have to spend at least 6 months in 2016 or have they fulfilled their 6 months in BC by staying from August until February?

4. Is a new born baby in BC automatically covered by MSP from birth?

5. Does the new born baby also have to fulfill the 6 months per year rule?

Here are some links for you on various public programs, people you can ask to find out. Some of these programs may be free, some might cost but you can ask.

Even I have the same question. Are new borns directly covered in BC or not? In ontario they are but BC has nowhere mentioned abt it.Their enrollmemt specialists also gave different answers each time..ANyone having any idea? That if a baby is born to a PR, immediately after landing, baby will be a citizen, will the baby be immediately covered or the baby have to wait till the mother get her health card
