Hi,

just wondering how long does it takes to get PR card after landing?

I checked on the website, it showed 16 days, is there anyone get PR recently?

please share your timeline with me!

Also, I have an important business trip in January for a month, can I leave Canada if I still not get my PR card yet?

Found it - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp

does say 16 days, but I don't remember anyone getting it so quickly on this forum. And I think at the border crossing where I did my landing, they told me 4 to 6 weeks.

Maybe it takes them 16 days to process it but more time to actually mail it out or something.

You don't need a PR card to LEAVE Canada. You can leave Canada whenever you want (even a day after becoming a PR). It is only needed to board the aircraft when you RETURN BACK to Canada. If you have not received the PR card by the time you leave Canada, you can arrange with someone close to you to mail/courier it to you when you are abroad.

My spouse is scheduled to Land next week. Can she travel to US for Christmas and New Year after landing? She has an unexpired US Visa on her passport.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Thanks for you reply,
so I actually can have someone mail the PR card to me without problems?
I am just worried that custom would not let me in if they know there is someone mailing the PR card to me while I am not in Canada.

How would they know? Even if they did, I don't think they would care anyway.

I'm not sure if you have a visa-exempt passport, but if you do, then you don't even need a PR card to board anyway.
