gift received from friend/distant relative - taxable in canada

I am a canadian pr holder from india. If i received a gift from my non blood relative i.e friend or distant relative does that gift is taxable in canada. if that relative is living in india or in canada does it change any thing.

As long as the friend/relative is not your employer, the gift will not be taxable.

Are PR card holders taxed for large amounts of gift money, say, more than 50k or 100k? Thanks
