Hi friends,

I recently received offer letter from Brock University. I want to take GIC but found that the GIC is only for SPP Indian students. I am from Nepal.

Brock university has also grand me the scholarship, is this normal process or something better?
Do you have any expert opinion please?
I got offer letter for Bachelor of Public Health. I have to apply under University category or normal ?

Please friends if you have any idea?
Thanks

Hi,

The Embassy in Nepal comes under the jurisdiction of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi. The mission's website is
http://www.newdelhi.gc.ca

So, the Canadian Study permit applications submitted by the citizens of Nepal are processed by the CHC- Canadian High commission in New Delhi, India.
So, you will apply for the Canadian Study Visa, just like any other citizen of India, preferably through VFS (who have authorized office and visa application submission center in Kathmandu).

VFS is an authorized agency, appointed by the Canadian high Commission, who for a small fee will make sure everything is in order with your application package and take the sole responsibility of sending your passport and application package and returning it to you safely. you may send your application package directly to CHC, New Delhi.. but it's not reccomended, especially when you have a VFS center in Kathmandu.

Here's the VFS website: http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/
VFS office in Kathmandu (at the bottom of the page) - http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/wheretoapply.html

Since, you have received admission from a University, you will apply under UNIVERSITY category.

Here's the official University category checklist, according to which you will have to prepare your application package: http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/pdf/Delhi_study_permit_eng.pdf

Even, if you had an admission in a college participating under SPP, still you would be ineligible to apply under SPP as the SPP category (comparatively much faster processing times and lesser paperwork) is only for the citizens of India.
And since, you will not be applying under SPP, GIC will not be compulsory.

Regarding proof of finances: If your scholarship letter funding cover first year of tuition + CAD 10,000, then you can attach the University funding letter. You do not need to apply for loan/GIC. Better, if you also attach some bank statement, ITR, prperty evaluation etc. just to make it more strong... it will be better.

In-case, Your scholarship letter doesn't cover full funding (1st year tuition fees+10,000$), then you may need to show alternate methods of funding such as loan or GIC. I'm not sure how citizens of Nepal can purchase GIC but I think, you can definitely get a loan from the Kathmandu branch of one of the recognized banks as mentioned on the university checklist.

It's highly advisable to submit your application as soon as possible (or atleast 3 months before the Sept. intake classes start) and so don't delay and immediately call / email VFS Nepal center regarding any doubts you may have. Here's the contact information:
http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/contactus.html

Best of Luck.
