GCMS Notes Request - Quick Help/Question

Hello,

I am the Sponsor for my husband, and I am trying to request the GCMS notes. I am following the video recommended http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo&feature=youtu.be

It is really helpful but I am stuck on one part, since it has been updated since the video was made.

As the Sponsor do I request the File Type as:
-Immigration File: Permanent Residence
or
-Sponsorship File

You most probably want to receive update on your's husband file so select Immigration File: Permanent Residence.

Thank you for your reply. That's what I went with.

I had to pay a $5 fee.

Does this mean I have properly requested the GCMS if I pay a $5 fee?

The first time I attempted and did not do it properly I was not asked to pay a $5 fee.....

You should also get an acknowledgment email saying they have received your request and your receipt for the $5 will be attached as well

I've ordered mine twice now and always had an acknowledgment email along with a tracking number

I updated the video with annotation that it was new box, its actually pretty obvious that its has to be permanent residence - not the sponsorship part

the first time you did it, were you requesting the sponsorship file? If so, I *think* the information about the non-canadian applicant costs money, and the file about the canadian sponsor is free. I'm not actually sure if that's how it works, it just seems to somewhat make sense why canadians get charged.

Its free under Privacy Act but charge is for Access to info
