Hello.
I got my PR visa in july 2015 under FSW 2014... Though I got the PR without Quebec Nomination can I still work from Montreal?
I can do my Landing in Toronto, then move to Motreal once all formalities are done?

Can any one tell me if this is possible and is valid?

Thanks much in advance...

Thank you so much for your reply...
And I assume landing directly in Montreal will not be possible as I am not sponsered by QC. Is that right assumption?

Hello,

Looking at the forum and online info, Montreal or Quebec City are cheaper to stay as compared to other cities. Please correct me if I am wrong.

But I could not find enough info on English speaking job opportunities in Quebec. Almost all the job posts need French.
Could someone help on this point?

Also, if French is necessary, then basic level of French would be sufficient? Basic.. I would say, can understand frequently used words but cant speak effectively?

Cheers,
Amy

You should assume that in Quebec, very fluent French is necessary, unless otherwise specified. There are few jobs (usually Montreal) that only require English. Quebec City. Is *very* French.

Thanks for the response.

Any Language certification is asked(I mean for PR holders/immigrants) or if one can speak properly would suffice.

Thanks in advance.

Amy

I've never been asked for language certification (I immigrated via QSW many years ago), *BUT* I'm bilingual & was so before arriving here.

One temp agency I registered with did require an in-house test in both languages.

TBH, if your qualifications/experience match what the employer is looking for, employer is not going to be concerned about language certification, in most cases. If it's required, it will be listed in the job ad. An employer will be able to see from your cv/application whether or not you are a suitable candidate.

If you are bilingual/speak fluent French, make sure you highlight that as a new immigrant. Also make sure your cv/resume is written in impeccable French.

What is your work experience? What jobs are you looking for, & where in Qc? There are some lower level service jobs where you could get by with basic French in Montreal or Gatineau/Hull; higher level jobs without excellent French do exist, but are few & far between.

Tl:dr : if job ad is in French, assume that near-native level French is required.

Many thanks for the response.

I am in IT industry with 8+ years of experience in Software Development. I am currently in EE pool with CRS 427( Long way to go for ITA :( ).

I am learning French and thus thinking for options in Quebec into software industry(I can teach Mathematics well too), if I get a PR. As far as I understand, we cannot Land in Quebec but later move there. Sorry, I am not sure after how much duration one can move to Quebec after landing in other province? Is there any strict timeline/exceptions?

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Amy

You are correct that you cannot land to *settle* in Qc without a CSQ.

There is no set timeline/duration for how long you need to wait to *move* here from elsewhere in Canada, once you have landed in Canada as a PR.

I posted some resources/links in another thread regarding French language levels, including an online self-assessment:

Thanks again Lammawitch, it is helpful information.

"you cannot land to *settle* in Qc without a CSQ." -- So, it is clear that we can land anywhere else and move to Quebec the next day as well!

Now, in FSW program, there is a statement - "You must intend to reside outside Quebec". So, are there any obligations to get a Canadian citizenship if we are PR holder living in Quebec?

Can we obtain CSQ after entering/living in Quebec for some time? And is it mandatory to get CSQ?

Cheers,
Amy

yes, in theory. However, if your intent (see below) all along is to immigrate to Qc, why are you not going through Quebec Immigration & CSQ?.

Now, in FSW program, there is a statement - "You must intend to reside outside Quebec". So, are there any obligations to get a Canadian citizenship if we are PR holder living in Quebec?
The key word is "intend". Intentions can change. If you immigrate to Canada as a PR with no PNP obligations, then get a job in Qc, no problem.

Can we obtain CSQ after entering/living in Quebec for some time? And is it mandatory to get CSQ?
No. CSQ is a "step" on the way to PR. Think of it as being like PNP. Once you have PR, you can't "step back" and get CSQ. But as a landed PR you can move to Qc.

CSQ is mandatory if you wish to *land* and settle in Qc. I'll repeat the question: if you are hellbent on coming to QC, why don't you apply through QC Immigration? If your plans are changing and you are being offered jobs in QC although you originally applied through FSW that's ok.

If your intention is to immigrate to QC, then you should be applying to QC for a CSQ, then to CIC as a QSW.

Cheers,
Amy
I'm not sure what your intention/plan/worry is?

Many Thanks Lammawitch to clear the confusion. I was under impression that CSQ is like some letter/Certificate required for working in Quebec whereas it is like PNP !!

Since I am not good in French, I am getting ineligible for QSW :-[
Therefore, I am thinking of going via EE route(even this is not going to be easy for me though :-X, but I am eligible here at least).

And my worry was that there might be issues to get citizenship later if I am under FSW and not CSQ; Which is not the case.

Thank you :)

Cheers,
Amy
