It is applicable for any work permits (open or close).

There are 2 things that could have been done
1. Once you finish your program, you apply for PGWP. The moment your file is recd, you are on Implied status - Meaning that you can stay in the country until CIC makes the decision
2. If you have recd a PER and your existing SP/PGWP is going to expire, you need to apply for BOWP 90 days before expiration and referencing your PER - Application number in that application.

Thats my understanding, you can correct me if i am wrong

I am not sure about close
To be eligible for a bridging work permit, foreign nationals must meet the following requirements:

they are currently in Canada;
they have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within four months;
they are the principal applicant on an application for permanent residence under the FSWP, the CEC, the FSTP, or the PNP (see note below);
they have received a positive eligibility assessment on their permanent residence application under one of the Economic Class programs above; and
they have applied for an open work permit.

It should be noted that the following foreign nationals do not qualify for a bridging work permit:

foreign nationals in Canada under section 186 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) (work permit exempt) situations;
foreign nationals who have let their status expire and must apply for restoration in order to return to temporary resident status;
foreign nationals whose work permits are valid for longer than four months and/or who already have a new LMIA that can be used as the basis for a new work permit application;
foreign nationals applying for a bridging work permit at the port of entry;
spouse and dependants of the principal permanent resident applicant;
provincial nominees who have not submitted a copy of their nomination letter with the application for a bridging work permit, or whose nomination letter specifically indicates employment restrictions.

In my opinion it is good for close permit as there is not any word that close WP is not qualified.

I was on a PGWP at the time I applied for PR. Then I applied for a BOWP as soon as I got PER.

It took about 2 months to get. It is valid for 1 year.

Hope this helps.

Hi Friends,

I have an urgent question, please help me if you have the experience :)

I got the email from CPC OTTAWA yesterday, and they request for the evidence of settlement. the email is below:

Dear ****:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

· Updated evidence of settlement funds (showing 6 months deposits/ withdrawals history) for yourself and/or your spouse showing a total/combined minimum balance of $14,720 (for a family of 2) in unencumbered, transferable and available funds.

Actually, I am not sure what does that mean. I have submitted my deposit certificate (about $ 20,000) with my application last December, and it was a fixed time deposit to this November. Why do they still request another one? what is "(showing 6 months deposits/ withdrawals history) for yourself and/or your spouse showing a total/combined minimum balance of $14,720 (for a family of 2) in unencumbered, transferable and available funds" ? Do they mean it should not be a fixed time deposit or what?

Another thing, my last deposit certificate is under my husband's account, but I am the primary applicant. Is this the problem? Does it work If I open an account right now and deposit some money into it? But it will be less than 6 months.

I am so confused now. Please help!!!!

I think you can. Many folks here have gone to Canada on Work Permit/Student Visa during their PR process.
Others have any different thoughts on this?
