Yes I gave affidavit explaining the situation that my birth was not registered by hospital, along with non availability certificate by municipal committee and copy of every other document that had my DOB like PAN, Passport, marriage certificate. My 10th certificate has DOB and my father's name on it.
Should be ok.

Sorry to hear Bro, but be ready to resubmit with necessary changes.

Also, CIC did not email you about the return? I was under the impression that you get a return app email from CIC in case the application is returned. Can seniors confirm?
Thx.
I am not senior, but my file was rejected.
I didn't receive any email, I just received all package by mail.

Letter was inside :-[

After getting PR card, how long one must stay in Canada to maintain PR status? I read on CIC's website that one must be living in Canada for 3 out of last 4 years before applying for Citizenship but I want to know does PR gets voided, ie. can someone stay outside Canada for 2 years after getting PR and still maintain status?
Yes, a person can stay outside Canada for 2 years after getting PR and still maintain status !!

This as long as landing formalities have been completed within 1 year of MR. After landing formality is completed you are a Canadian PR holder and if you wish, can return back to your home country. Point to remember though is that you need to spend 2 out of 5 years in Canada to maintain PR status.

Sorry to hear about that, what was the reason of refusal? can't you fix the issue and resubmit again? am sure your NOC won't be that hot for the cap to get filled with out you.

Agreed, but desi food taste is always better back home, unfortunately - Even though you surely can nourish on quality desi food abroad too but that taste does differ :( I have a flat in London where my bro resides now (Kennington- London) n we visit almost every year, but surely do miss relatives n desi food still :(
Yeh, I did miss desi taste for a year or so. After that I got used to the UK taste so much that I don't miss desi taste as much, even in some cases I miss Angrezi taste when I visit restaurants in Mumbai now a days ;)

When you are a permanent resident, you can live outside of Canada, but must live in Canada for at least two years (cumulatively) in a five-year period. If you live outside of Canada for longer, you may lose your permanent resident status.

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) out of the four years (1,460 days) preceding your application. Please note that you cannot meet the residence requirements for citizenship without a minimum of two (2) years as a permanent resident.

When calculating your time in Canada:

only the four (4) years preceding the date of your application are taken into account;
each day you lived in Canada before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day;
each day you lived in Canada after you became a permanent resident counts as one day;
time spent serving a sentence for an offence in Canada (e.g. prison, penitentiary, jail, reformatory, conditional sentence, probation and/or parole) cannot be counted toward residence - there are some exceptions to this rule;
absences from Canada may have an impact on your residence. Only a citizenship judge can determine if you meet the residence requirements with fewer than 1,095 days of physical presence.
Thanks for the detailed answer! It helps a lot. :D
