A friend of mine received an update from AVO requesting the spouse to provide an evidence of employment since she state on her form that she is self employed.

Kindly assist.

If not, i wonder why AVO is requesting for spouse self employed info.

To God Be The Glory. I thank the Almighty Gid for the response by AVO when i raised CSE about my spousal inclusion. Here is the mail that was received just now by me

Dear Sir/Madam,



In order to add your spouse to your application, kindly provide the following documents:

· An updated IRPA application for you and your spouse. An application includes the Application for Permanent Residence in Canada [IMM 0008], the Schedule A: Background/Declaration [IMM 0008 SCHEDULE A] and the Additional Family Information form [IMM 5406]. Forms can be found at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/application-regular.asp.

· Payment of the Application for Permanent Residence Fee for your spouse if he/she is accompanying. For current fees, please consult: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/ghana/visas/fees-frais.aspx?view=d



· Copy of State issued birth certificate for your spouse.

· 4 passport-sized photos for your spouse, as per the photo specifications found in Appendix C of the visa office specific instructions. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37100.pdf

· Copy of the biographical page from valid passport for your spouse.

· Copy of your marriage certificate.



Your spouse must undergo a medical examination. We will send you the appropriate form upon receipt of the documents listed above. Be aware that even non-accompanying dependants must undergo medical examinations.

Any change in your situation is likely to affect the processing time of your application.

You must also consider the fact that the amount of money needed to meet the needs of your family depends on its size and the cost of living in Canada. Therefore, the fact that your family has grown, you must have at your disposal a higher amount for your settlement in Canada. Pls house members i have a few questions
1. Will i send all these documents by courier alone or email alone or both to AVO?

2. Will the copies of state issued birth certificate, passport page, and marriage certificate be notarised by a notary public or its not necessary i do so since it was not clearly stated in the mail?

3. Can i send my updated proof of funds now along with my application?

Your swift and accurate responses are eagerly anticipated by me so i can start firing AVO with my documents.

congrats on the inclusion of your spouse. Fill all required form and send via courier to AVO. Please also include your new POF for your new family size. There is no need to notarize your documents since they are in English

Dear All,

Please I need urgent advise!

I was in the UK for my masters when I applied but I am done and returned to my country, Nigeria.

I am thinking of changing my visa office to Accra (AVO) for further processing of my application, coupled with the fact that LVO is snail processing and it might be difficult for them to do background and security check since they are not use to treating applications for Nigeria citizens.

Do I write to CIC or you advise I leave my application in LVO?

Please provide me the email address to contact CIC if necesssary.

I thank this great forum members for our interactions so far. AVO received my wife's medicals but now need an additional test (Sputum + culture) and that will last us another 8 weeks. She did the tests for 3 days (17, 18 and 19 Aug). Please pray along

Replied Accra with Update: August 14, 2015
Got to Accra: August 17, 2015
MR Received: August 19, 2015 at 2.00pm

Others that are waiting for MR especially Nov applicants, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The request sounds strange, maybe it was the use of the term self employed(which may be strange to them) that triggered their interest. Does the spouse by any chance have a registered business. That may help as proof. Probably more experienced seniors can offer more options.

Fill out all forms carefully and send via a courier service.
Congratulations in advance as your MR will come as soon as they get your docs.
If you have issues, ask me or other senior members.

It is the word "self employed" used, it is ambiguous. In our application I stated what my spouse was doing as she is also self employed, but We did not used the word self employed. I did not send any evident of what she is doing and they didn't request either.
