Does anyone know about Canada cutting back the foreign worker program? Has anyone heard or read something about it?

Will this affect the Live-in Caregiver program?

I don't know if we need to reapply with new documents, I also don't know if this would affect the officer's decision as I still haven't received any response of my application sent four weeks ago.

They are not cutting back the FWP. However they are going to make it more difficult for employers to apply for an LMO (less incentives for them and tougher regulations).
Because of the RBC scandal they are currently reviewing the program works. Most Canadians are in favour too and I have to say that many of them do not see immigration in a favourable light (I've been living in Canada for 10 years)

If you have already applied and already have the LMO done, it shouldn't effect you this time. (If you have to re-apply in the future, it may effect you.)

Basic changes:
- Only required languages in a job posting are English and/or French. Other languages aren't allowed. (This is because of another scandal at a mine that would only hire Chinese speaking workers.)
- No more A-LMOs
- No longer allowed to underpay TFW by .15/hour (this won't effect LCP at all)
- Work Permit fees will rise
- LMO now have an application fee

There were some other changes as well - those are the important ones I remember off of the top of my head.

Thanks for the replies.

I am still waiting for an answer, it's taking more time than the first time I applied so that's why I was worried and confused.

Hello guys! The changes implied to foreign workers are most likely with the food chain. The changes they made so far that I know is that, they had given 4 yrs for foreign worker to stay and process their PR within those yrs, otherwise, they will have to go back home and cannot come back to canada after 5 yrs
