Hi,
I am planning to travel from Dubai to Toronto later this month and i found good deal with this connection flight:
Emirates - Dubai to Gatwick (London) arring Day 1 around 6pm

Air Canada - Heathrow to Toronto - leaving day 2 around 12pm

As i read through UK gov website, they said: You may be eligible to transit without a visa if; i am meeting all conditions given there...

Do i need to apply for a visa? (Indian citizen)) Or will i be able to travel and stay in a hotel in UK for one night and catch my connecting flight next day?

Any help is appreciated, any one did this before?

You will need a transit visa as you will be changing airport and cross border control. Check eligibility here:

https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y

However, if you do not cross border control and have a valid visa to Canada, you do not need a transit visa:

Exemptions
You do not need a visa if you have one of the following:
  • a visa for Canada, New Zealand, Australia or the USA (this can be used for travel to any country)
  • a permanent resident card issued by Canada on or after 28 June 2002
I would recommend changing your plan and try to look for connecting flights at the same airport.

It is confusing actually,
They are saying i need visa and then there is below exemptions which i meet, so do i need visa or not, there is really no clear answer....

Am not taking this route as it is not clear for me. Will plan for a different flight and connection as u mentioned...

Thanks for replying!

Good luck! I am in the same bag, although it is worse as I am not vaccinated with a recognized variant :(
