Hi everyone, just looking for some advise. I will be flagpoling this weekend at some point and the plan was for my Canadian partner to come with me. Is it a good idea for us both to do this or should I go alone? Also is it better to do this driving or should we park somewhere and cross on foot? I have been looking through older toics on this but I just want to have the process clear in my mind if anyone can share their experience! Thanks :D

Thank you, good idea to go Friday evening!

Does anyone know if my partner will be able to come over to the US side and flagpole with me or if I should do it myself?

I assume your partner is the Canadian? If so then of course they can go with you. Anyone can go with you as long as they have the visa / ESTA to get into the US and a visa / visa waiver / PR etc. for Canada to get back in.

I will be flagpoling / soft landing with my wife in one weeks time (I am the Canuck, she is the Brit).

Yes he is Canadian. Great, thank you for your help :) Just wasn't sure if they would have an issue with him flagpoling when he doesn't personally have any immigration paperwork to activate.

If you just go a bit futher up stream and go to the Queen Elizabeth much quieter. So you both drive over the bridge and tell the US officer that you want to flagpole. They will give you a yellow slip and direct you to a parking lot with a building. A US officer will come out ask you a few questions sign a form and tell you to turn around and direct you how to get back to Canada. At this point you still haven't got out of the car. You cross back into Canada and pay a toll fee a few bucks can't remember ,he will then tell you to go inside the CBSA office. There you the applicant will go to the desk and they will ask you a few questions. 1) Have you ever been denied or deported from Canada or any other country 2) have you ever been arrested or been detained 3) are you still with your sponsor 4) do you have any dependants that are not on this form. He will then stamp your paper Corp and then they will send you a pr cards a few weeks later.

So yes both you and your sponsor can go. You do not enter the US so no visa or esta required
