HI All,

I am first time traveller to Canada under PR visa (COPR valid till March 2022). I am planning to travel to Canada in December 2021 , complete landing formalities, provide Canada mailing address and complete my quarantine period i.e stay up to one month in Canada after landing. Return to India as I have some work to complete.

My relative is in Canada , I would be giving his mailing address. So after I return to India, Can my relative receive my PR card sent via mail at his mailing address and handover to me in India ? or do I have to be physically present to receive PR CARD sent via mail. Can anyone of you let me know? This will be helpful.

My understanding is that first PR cards are sent via mail to mailing address ? Hope its still correct? Or is there any change in process? I am also seeing IRCC portal about PR card status in threads. Do i need to update photos and mailing adress in a separate portal? Can I stick to my plan of returning to India after one month in Canada. Will it work?

Please let me know.

I don't know if there is some silly restriction that bans receipt of your initial PR card while you are outside of Canada (probably there is, as Canadian politicians love to troll Canadian PRs), but I see no reason why you can't do it: provide Canadian address where your card can be mailed so you can later come back to pick it up, or have it delivered to you in person to India, as you want.

One thing to note is that Canada (as well as US) since 911 have implemented increasingly total control over movement of it's permanent residents (similar to what Bolsheviks used to do in Socialist countries in early XX century) and restricted a lot of freedoms under pretext of fighting global terrorism. As such, it's likely that your exit from Canada will be registered and recorded into database. If there is a restriction on having your PR card sent to Canadian address while you are abroad, this may result in delays with issuance of your PR card. So, make sure you check out the rules and applicable regulations before doing anything.

You can do that.
But there some slim chances that IRCC will ask you to pick up our PR Card in person.
It was more frecuent before COVID. But some members of the forum have received a notification to pick up their PR Card in person.
As always, it will all depend on IRCC
