Hey everyone.
Finally managed to come online. Been a long time hasnt it!? Anyway I wanted to share our experience for landing in Toronto.
We arrived there on a Monday late afternoon in Terminal 1 in Pearson. Let me tell you .. it was BUSY!!!! First part we had to go through a HUGE line up with 3 small kids when we landed to say what we brought in and where we were etc. I asked a couple of officers if we had a separate place to go for landing as a PR and they said you had to go through this line like everyone else. Well 30 mins later we finally got to the officer and he asked my husband more questions than me as he was the PR. Then he said you need to go to immigration. So they wouldnt let me in I had to sit out and he had another line up to stand in took almost 30 mins for his turn. The IO asked him about his criminal record, if his marital status was the same and he said we were sitting outside waiting for him. Then she took down the address and didnt say anything about the PR card. He came out and he just had his copy of the COPR and nothing else, so I told him did they say anything about the card and he said no, so to be sure it would be sent to the right address he went back in and waiting some more and then came out and told me they said by default it would be sent to the address we had written down. Then I guess they felt guilty or something and gave him a red "green" bag with some pamphlets and an daily organiser. When we got to where our luggage was supposed to be everyone was long gone and we had to search around to collect all our luggage! Was nerve wracking. But thankfully everything was there. Was a long trip but well worth it. I am so happy to be back home in Canada. 30 hours later and we were finally home!! I will be around helping out if anyone has any questions about the process..

Glad you made it home safe and sound. Congratulations to your husband, does he feel any different as a PR? :)
Hope you're settling in well and your family likes Canada. I'm still getting used to it myself, it will take me a while. Heh.

Boncuk, Welcome home and welcome back to this forum. I am happy that you are here with your family. You may say that your landing was smooth except for the long line, because it is crowded in the afternoon. When I landed at 1pm, it was empty and I was landing as PR me and other couple.
Best wishes for you and your family, waiting to hear from you.

Mitamata Yes it has been an adjustment, I guess its hard to predict what to expect. Hopefully it will go well :) It's hard to learn a new system of doing things especially coming from a country that is very behind in some ways. But thx for the warm msg. :) Glad to see you're still around too!

Rorita.. good to be home... the weather has been freaky don't know what to put on the kids I'm changing them several times a day lol.. one second its cold and cloudy the next its hot and sunny.. but Windsor hasnt changed too much since I was here last just a lot more new homes and more shopping! The casino looks nicer too now that it is Caesars. We'll see how things go, we need to still search around for a place to live inshallah in a month or two we will have settled completely. How did things go with your health card and your drivers license?
We went to city hall for the health cards and they accepted a bank statement with the rest of our ID. I have to wait the 3 months along with the kids and my husband. I will talk to you soon I hope!

Thx Suin! how are things going with your application?
hello, Boncuk. hope everything is going smooth with your family adaptation in Canada. I guess, they are supposed to give each member of your family a PR card now - it will be a bunch of them in your mail. ;) Please let us know when you receive them. :)
As for our application, we are still in process...waiting...waiting...

Just curious Boncuk....

You mentioned they asked you about your Criminal Background when you land. I thought that you had already (like all of us here) went through a criminal background check and wouldn't get a PR if they found serious stuff. Do they ask the question just to confirm it, or ask if anything has changed since the application was submitted or the COPR was granted?

When you land they ask if you have had any criminal convictions since applying, any additional dependents since than and if anything has changed regarding your relationships status. They are just verifying that there have been no changes in your situation since you sent in your application.
