bugsnette -- basta may schedule kang alam, apply ka 2-3 weeks before the exam date.. in 2 weeks after the exam makukuha mo na ang results. hanap kna ng test date and venue...

norbieumali -- after PPR, it should be a sure Visa...

crissy -- hindi kaya JD na ung binigay ng employer mo? employment certificate at job description kailangan isubmit...

Hope you can share with us on the following as well.

1. I (back) read some of your posts - are you now working on your CA? Is the 3-year training mostly on audit work? If you did not have any external audit experience, will you still qualify?

2. Mind if I ask how you were able to get your job? Did you apply prior to your departure or only when you got there?

3. Any preparation tips that you can share please in terms of getting job like if there are some things we can do already while waiting for our visa - professional accreditation, job searching, etc.

for now, i'm still working on finishing my subjects in tax and business law. 3 mos kasi per term dito. so sa december ko matapos tong fall term. then enroll ulit ako sa january for tax2 and law2 for winter term naman. jan-mar siya. enrolled ako sa IAFP (International Accounting and Finance Professionals) Program ng school ko and most of us (fellow Filipinos) enrolled in the program was awarded a bursary of $5k to finance our studies till spring term. bigay ito ng govt of ontario sa mga new immigrants. di ko alam na may ganito nung nag enroll ako kaya i was so happy nung inform nila ako at pinag apply then na approve naman kasi need-based itong program na to.

pag natapos ko na yung tax2 and law2 saka ulit ako makikicommunicate sa ICAO kasi yun advice nila sa akin. madugo ang mag-aral lalo na sa tax. and i've been a registered tax practitioner in the phils for years. doble lng siguro hirap kasi nga i'm working full time too.

sa work naman, nag apply ako online dito na sa canada 1 month after we arrived kasi puro pasyal lng kami nung first month namin dito. naswertehan na napili ako for an interview. di ko nilagay sa resume ko na sa philippines mga work experience ko. nabasa ko kasi yung tip na yun sa lpbautista proboards and it worked wonders for me. sabi nga nung nag advice dun, pag nakita kasi nila na wala kang canadian experience, set aside na agad application mo w/o giving you a chance to prove your worth to them. kaya nagulat yung mga nag interview sa akin nung sabihin ko na sa phils lahat yung work ko. pero siyempre andun na ko so i did my best to sell myself na. just convinced them na kahit wala kang work experience sa canada, you are qualified to do the job and you are doing you're best to gather all the knowledge and facts and info in order to enhance your skills. ako i had three calls for a job interview. di ko napuntahan yung isa kasi nahire na ako noon at malayo masyado. yung first job ko 1 week lng kasi tumawag tong present job ko ngayon and they offered me a higher salary kaya lumipat ako. sabi nga nila super swerte ko daw talaga. siguro sa dami ng dasal ko naawa talaga si Lord sa akin. ;D

ang importante lng talaga madami kayo dalang pera. kasi di mapredict kung ano magiging kapalaran dito. wala din job security kasi at any time pwede kang tanggalin sa work. kaya dapat may contingency fund ka lagi just in case lng. magdala kayo ng madaming gamit. maximize niyo yung luggage kasi mahal talaga dito. di sila nagcheck sa airport ng mga gamit namin. andami kong gustong dalhin pero di ko dinala kasi bawal sabi sa pdos pero di naman pala nagcheck kaya naiinis ako. lahat ng gusto niyong dalhin in the future ilista niyo sa goods to follow. di ko ginawa yun and i regret it. kasi pagbalik ko diyan andami kong gustong bilhin. di ko lng maenumerate per item. pasensya na.

kuha kayo ng certificate of membership and letter of good standing from your professional body. try to come before your ielts expires so that you wont need to take ang english exam again pagdating niyo dito. kuha kayo ng certificate sa lto na you have been driving for more than 2 years. believe me malaking tulong yun sa pagkuha ng driver's license dito. kami di namin ginawa kaya additional expense na namn. mas madling kumuha ng car kesa license dito. ;D

that's for now. review pa ko may exams next week.

friends, id like to share how my PDOS went.

We attended PDOS last oct 21, 2010, just 2 days after typhoon Juan. Our COA was scheduled Oct 20 but due to bad weather we cancelled it.

Before going to the PDOS seminar, we printed out the map to the office and the forms needed to be filled up for registration. (Just go to their website for the map.) We arrived minutes before 10 am, but we were required to be there at 8.30 for the registration process. Needless to say, we didn't finish our registration because the seminar starts 10 am. We were late partly because of the typhoon... we left pangasinan when we were sure JUAN was out of the country.

they allowed us to sit for the seminar and continue with the registration after it. The seminar started 10am, then ended a little past 12. I cannot say it's very informative, as i already knew most of the topics. One of the things they emphasized was the importance of bringing as many things as you can. They said your POF should be used for your everyday needs (foods/travel expenses and rents), as you will never know when you'll land a job.. and they're right. Onother one was the differences-- although i know most, i sure was reinforced. There are major differences when it comes to bathing a child, leaving children at home alone, cigarette smoking inside your own house or near buildings, etc.

Since our procedure was mixed up (seminar before registration), i'd share our registration process.

After our seminra, we were asked to continue with the registration which starts with the filled up forms to be verified at window 1. After verification, we proceed to the cashier to pay P800 (P400 each)...then we were asked to wait for the passport. WE got our passport with the pdos sticker and they gave a book (1 for each familY) then left.

I'm sorry to say this but its just funny that we were not offered anything to eat.. not even a drink or a candy.. In the COA seminar, i was told it was free of charge but snackrs are offered

Hi! just want to share my experience for medicals ko. kakauwi lang namin from cebu friday. oct 20 n 21 medicals namin. sa 1st day, kinunan lang kami ng bp, height, and weight ng nurse staff sa clinic, binigyan din kami ng doc's note for urinalysis ,chest xray and blood sample. sa cebu doc kami nagpalab n xray. kahit more than 4 liters of water kami each ni misis sa 1st day, hindi parin maganda result namin sa urinalysis. may blood sa urine ko and kay misis above normal wbc niya sa urine. twice kami nag urinalysis medyo similar parin ang result.

On the 2nd day, we went early to the clinic para humingi ng doc's note again for third time of urinalysis. di kami nagbreakfast that morning, water2x lang and ihi ng ihi. feeling namin masusuka na kami sa tubig. i think abot ng 10 liters of water each kami sa 2 days. while waiting for the result of our 3rd urinalysis, we went back to the clinic ng DMP for physical exam. (1 block lang ang cebu doc sa clinic). the DMP ask questions like kung nagkatreatment for this and that. and he also checked our eyes, mouth, lungs, and etc. it took just around 15 mins for both of us. I also asked the doc about our urine, sabi niya pinapaulit kami para wala sabit. baka kc pagod lang kami sa byahe kaya ganun ang result.

After our PE, bumalik kami sa hospital to get u/a result, we were really scared that time baka maglaho na canadian dream namin. Fortunately, pagtingin namin sa result normal na. So, we returned to the clinic with a smile on our face, to give the result. After that, nakapag-enjoy na kami sa cebu. nakakain na kami without worrying and nagshopping si misis after that.

On the next day, which was on friday, flight na namin pabalik sa zamboanga.
