I soft landed last September in Toronto. In my SIN application I have given a British Columbia address. I have returned to my home country India and living here now. Now I am going to file taxes for the first time. I have some questions.

a.) I was employed from January to August 2017 (before landing) and I have made approximately 20,000 EUR (32000 CAD) working in the Netherlands.

b.) I was unemployed when I soft landed

c.) After landing and returning to India I worked for month of December and made 40,000 INR (800 CAD)

What income should I show when I file my taxes ?

Do you still own/rent the address in BC and available for your own use? If not, you don't need to file a tax return.

I do not have any own / rent place in BC. But i heard filing taxes is required to get citizenship later. Is this true ?

^No, not required to file even if you have significant ties, you don't owe CRA income tax for your $800 income, maybe if it was $80,000 sure.

Like the other member has said, I also don't think you need to bother with tax filing for 2017.

Thanks for your replies. Regarding Tax filing for Citizenship requirement please see here

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility.html#tax

It says

Income tax filing
Regardless of your age, if required under the Income Tax Act, you must meet your personal income tax filing obligations in three tax years that are fully or partially within the five years right before the date you apply.

So doesn't it mean I have to file taxes to be a citizen as soon as possible ?

if required under the Income Tax Act

You were not required to file in 2017, check NO and NO in the tax question in cit app form.
