File transfer from Buffalo to a satellite office (NYC, Seattle, LA, Detroit)

Got my Passport yesterday with a PR Visa! It's not usual, however, for NYC to return so quickly.
I did email them twice asking them to send the passport back due in the pre-paid envelope to the upcoming trip and the end of lease on my appartment.
It was unreasonable for them to give me 25 days to mail the passport in while having the luxury of 30 business days to mail it back to me without giving us the option of getting the Visa in person.

...And we asked the MP's office to interviene!

The MP's rep called NYC on Tue morning, and they FedExed my passport back to me that same day via overnight delivery.

...not sure what exactly triggered them to finally mail it back to me that same Tue, but something did work!!

Nice. I need mine back soon, too. I have travel plans for next Saturday the 9th!

Still not a single word from the NYC office.

Silence.

They've had my application since MARCH.

They said back in May that the only thing missing was the original FBI cert (lost by someone on their end, not by me!). It took the FBI three months to get me a new background cert. . . . again, not my fault.

Could the NYC office not have put my application back on the top of the pile??

I asked a few weeks ago via "case-specific inquiry" if they could possibly please confirm that the application is at least now finally complete -- am I not allowed to even ASK, after 6 months in their hands? -- but they didn't reply.

Thanks, Love_Young. I still think I will probably get it very soon... They said 3 weeks and it has been 2.. but I'm going to start emailing them on Monday I guess. Tell them I have travel plans and I really want to make it home for Thanksgiving... maybe they will listen. The last time I sent an inquiry to LA, someone actually called me on the phone in response.

hey everyone!

I got my PPR via e-mail this morning!!!!!

For those remember, I just sent my FBI and our daughter's Canadian citizenship cer last week!!! Acutally the package was received on Friday!!!!!! I got my PPR e-mail today (Monday) at 9:30am!! I am so happy someone opened the package and worked on it right away! :-*

So getting transfered wasn't a bad thing afterall..I thought it was going to take another one month or so since I had to submit the additional documents! Thanks everyone for support!

I am going to ship my passport this week..but before that I want to be sure if I really understand this process..please help.

My mailing address on PR (outland-Detroit) application is in Canada and I am visiting in Canada til I land.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Here I go...

I assume they want the return envelope with FedEx pre-paid label with my passport and 2 pics and additional documents (the part asking to write name, height, eye color)

...but if we cannot use the FedEx service then we just submit the passport with the documents mentioned above withoutthe returning envelope?

You can send it without a return envelope and they will just use regular mail to return it to you.

What I did was "prepay" a regular priority mail envelope. I went to the post office and got them to put a tracking sticker on it and some stamps and stuck that inside of the bigger one. So it's still being returned to me via regular priority post, but I can track it

Ugh, 13 business days since they received my passport and nothing.

I emailed them on Monday saying that I have a flight booked for Saturday and I need my passport to be mailed this week. They replied and said that they'd "pull my file and send it to an officer for finalization"
Here we are on Wednesday night. I'm really starting to freak out here.

I guess I will drive in to the consulate tomorrow during open-to-the-public hours and see if I can get them to just freaking stamp it and hand it to me already.

I don't want to miss Thanksgiving with my family

Still waiting on my passports to be returned. They arrived at the Consulate on the 28th of Sept. Does anyone have any experience with how long Detroit takes when you don't use FedEx. I am chomping at the bit here wanting to land already!!
