Are refugee claimants considered residents for tax purposes? Or does this apply only to protected persons?

If you are working, you need to file tax returns.
I'm aware of that. I was looking into how to file the return using NETFILE and one of the restrictions is (you are a non-resident of Canada).
Since refugee claimants are out of status, are they considered non-residents?

I am simply asking a straightforward question: Is a refugee claimant a resident for tax purposes or non-resident?

Your immigration status is irrelevant to your tax residency status. Yes, refugees can certainly be residents for tax purposes.
