ya but we never saw anyone posted on being allowed to attend outside.
For this covid period they would have allowed test and interview(even if they want to keep the oath inside canada). Seems no one requested/attempted to get permission. May be you can give it a try and post here.

You got the test invite or yet to receive?
If you let CIC know that you are outside Canada (when you receive test invite),and send them proof of ticket/boarding pass etc. and enough proof, they can help postpone and help you give the test when back in Canada.

I understand. Even i am outside. Covid reality of life is increasingly painful in may ways in day-to-day life and on top of it, the cic is not even processing applications for most and delaying which increases the main risk of meeting residency obligation till oath.

Dealing with cic has become the measurement of luck, not good.
Wonder how delays will create a risk of meeting residency obligation till oath?
You apply only after you meet the physical stay requirements....

Per rule, one should be retaining PR status(which is mainly the residency obligation of 2 years out of 5 years) till oath date.

If the applicant moves out of Canada (for example) in Feb2020 after applying and the delay extends till April 2023 finally to get the oath date then at this stage, the applicant is not meeting residency obligation since its more than 3 years outside hence would lose PR status hence cant gain citizenship.

I agree but we still have lot of 2019 files and some of 2018 files.
But i think that they will clear 2018 and 2019 files this year and by year end the backlog will reduce.

But today i saw a note from one member saying they used to do 400+ people for oath but now its just 40-60. I am still 50% confidence due to current speed. I would have more confidence if they are clearing 2018 and 2019 files without proceeding to 2020 but it all seems to be based on officer. So they just do 2018, 2019 and in some cases 2020 too. So by this year end they will start on 2021 too without clearing 2018/2019. So its a mess hence lucky ones will get it in 2 years.

and also I observed that most of 2020 applicants who received the test invite are either single applicants (or) a family of 2. All family of 3 or more applied together still waiting. So my guess is if you are a single applicant in 2020 then you have a very high chance of getting test invite this year itself. One of my friends who applied (single) in April-2020 already got test invite. I applied as a family in Nov-2019, still waiting. Really curious about why so much randomness in the process, but for sure, it is not fair.

This family theory doesn't seems to be true, check 2020 tracker just Jan and Feb applicants, lot of family of 3,4 even 5 received test invite already. This is just a lottery system the most luckiest will get the test invite. Still today if you see the IRCC website, it says:
Since December 1, 2020, we’re inviting some applicants to take the citizenship test online. IRCC will invite some not all applicants to take the online test. I personally believe the less lucky applicants may need to wait for in-person test.

Oh no. It seems I am not one of those lucky ones. So 3 years to qualify and 3 years to get citizenship. I don't think in-person will start this year. Even if it starts, they have to clear 2018 and 2019 before they reach Nov-2019. So much unfair. Anyway, let's wait and see how the future unfolds.

Sorry man right now everyone who is waiting for the test is feeling unlucky, maybe we should just stop thinking about it for now. It will happen when it will happen.
