I submitted PCC along with my application. PCC was 9 months old at the time of application. I received my MR & RFPR on Oct 31st. The PCC on file is over 14 months old at this time. However CPC-O did NOT ask for a new PCC. I am saying this so it cheers up anyone who might be in the same situation.

Hi guys,

This is regarding FBI fingerprinting process...
Where does it say that FP has to be done by police officials?
This is what written on FBI site "If possible, have your fingerprints taken by a fingerprinting technician. This service may be available at a law enforcement agency."
So, is it okay if we buy a stamp pad and do it ourself?? (of course, with care and making sure it is clear and legible according to the guidelines provided)

Has anybody done that?
Yes, many applicants have taken the risk and some have succeeded.

Thanks for the quick reply..

I am doing this from chennai... I have been in US on H1-B... I know I have to do for adults.. I have a kid who is 10 years old..
I am sorry, I have no experience in doing the fingerprints from India. Anyway, if you do it on your own, please send multiple copies. Yes, you are correct, only adults need to do it. You kid or anyone below 18 does not.

We are already close to deadline. What will happen if fingerprints got rejected? Would CIC give us extension in case FP's are rejected? It will be almost 12 weeks extension we are talking about here. Pls. suggest.
I don't have any suggestions here, because I am in the same boat. First, request the VO for extension. Next, request a extension using a Case Specific enquiry. Finally, try the state PCCs. At least when I get to the end of my extension - that's what I would do.

Thank you o_o. But don't I have to live or work in that county in order to be able to get my FP done from there?
In your previous post you mentioned:
Surprising, since I got my fingerprints taken at my local PD in US.
So I thought that you are in the US. I'm sorry then you would need to just send multiple copies and hope for the best.

Also please see if you can get US State PCCs - the ones in which you lived. You may have some luck convincing the VO - you never know.

You are perfectly correct. You can do it on your own. However the challenge is to get it done correctly, since you have to wait for 12 weeks to know the result. From a prior post by FSW_Applicant - he seems to have had a police department in the US do it, and even then it was rejected.

Yes, it gives me hope. You know I should have submitted my PCC in first place with application and perhaps they wouldn't have asked me in first place. Now may be NDVO will make decision based on old one.. hoping for best :)

Thanks all.

Got it... Thanks.

I am doing it from India, I need to check with my nearest Police station to see if they have a FP technician. also I see there is a box for the technician to sign on the card.

I was wondering the same thing! It implies that you can do it yourself, but doing it yourself makes no sense.
Eg, if I knew that I did something wrong while in USA and the system will recognize my fingerprints and shaw my criminal record, I would ask someone else with the clean record to print him, at my home, instead of me and get a clean certificate, wouldn't you?
And, it brings me to my second question - there is a field for signature of an officer taking the fingerprints, but it says nothing about seal/stamp. Is it required?

I had got my fingerprints taken at the district fingerprint bureau. The charges are very nominal... Presently for the fingerprint it is rs1000/- & rs 100 for additional copies... There are fingerprint experts over there
