My half brother has a criminal conviction. Will it hinder my application for PR?

Unless your half brother is part of your application then whether he has a criminal record or not will definitely not affect your PR application. CIC have enough on their plate going through your own application without having to investigate your family members. So no need to worry. Your application is between you and your sponsor
