I recently moved to Canada as a Permanent Resident. Both myself and my spouse are canadian PR holders, but my 3 years son is not. He is a US citizen (holding US Passport) and so he just entered canada without any specific visa. And now, I have applied for his PR under the family sponsorship category. My sponsorship eligibility has been approved by the CIC-mississauga office just 1 week back and the second level PR approval application has been forwarded by them to the Ottawa visa office. Per the CIC website, it will take one year for the second/ final approval & to get his PR (under family sponsorship category).
Just wanted to know if it really takes that much time ? If anyone has already tried like this and got it only after 1 year ???? I am asking this because, i cannot get his OHIP (health card) until then and i need to pay her medical bills (if any) until then. Please advise on the timelines sir.
